Digital Forensics Technician
Digital Forensic Technicians play a crucial role in supporting the capture, prevention and initial processing of Digital Evidence.
Digital Forensics Technician’s responsibilities encompass providing triage and early decision-making for criminal investigations, ensuring the integrity of digital evidence, and advising on detection, preservation, and processing of digital material.
They adapt to various case types, conduct risk assessments, and work flexibly within organizations, adhering to health and safety protocols and maintaining a secure data chain of custody. The role involves interaction with local forensics teams, regular reporting, accountable for their workload, utilising specialised digital forensics capture tools while prioritising tasks effectively and complying with legal and professional development, adherence to ethical frameworks, and compliance with security vetting and industry regulations.
Typical job roles include: Computer Examiner, Data Forensic Technician, Digital Evidence Technician, Digital Forensic Technician, Digital Investigation Technician, Mobile Device examiner, Triage Technician.
Apprentices are invited to extend and widen their workplace skills and behaviours, through a number of additional training sessions and resources including Careers Information Advice and Guidance workshops, safeguarding workshops, workplace professionalism workshops and guest speakers.
Apprentices are also invited to access our catalogue of training videos providing technical training courses across the spectrum of IT and Cyber Security training.
*Proof of GCSE grade C/4 or above or equivalent qualifications will proxy apprentices from sitting functional skills
