Meet David Riley, one of our IT and Cyber Trainers, a Liverpool Fan, and Instrumentalist…
David Riley helps people and businesses understand cybersecurity risks in a new era where Internet devices outnumber humans.
David delivers cybersecurity instruction in an engaging way, using real-world experience and analogies to help people grasp complex topics. His areas of expertise include CompTIA Security+, penetration testing, social engineering, and regulatory compliance, covering all levels of cybersecurity training from complete beginner to accomplished professional.
In an industry facing growing shortages of qualified colleagues, David Riley is our Cyber Trainer. He believes in patiently supporting, mentoring, and inspiring people to develop our next generation of cybersecurity leaders.
For over ten years, David has helped large organisations like the Home Office and Severn Trent Water navigate business risks in information security, leading and training colleagues as far afield as Australia and China. He started out as a language nerd, reading joint Honours in French and Latin at undergraduate level, before realising his language skills could equally be applied to Python and C#. That ultimately led to graduating as a Master of Science in Cybersecurity.
Outside work, David can usually be found at the match or playing music, being a lifelong fan of Liverpool FC, and a multi-instrumentalist whose guitars, basses, and pianos all need constant maintenance!
