BIT Training Unlocks New Technical Talent Pipeline for Devon

Finding local, motivated talent can be a challenge, but Devon businesses now have a ready pool of trained, early-career individuals who are prepared to hit the ground running. BIT Training has completed a series of 12-week Skills for Life Bootcamps, producing candidates industry certified in IT and Project Management skills.

The programmes include:

IT Skills Bootcamp with Microsoft Cloud Skills, trainees proficient in Microsoft Azure, 365, cloud services, and security essentials.

Agile Project Management Skills Bootcamp, trained in project delivery, collaboration, and change management.

Project Management Skills Bootcamp including training in planning, budgeting, risk management, and AI-supported decision-making.

What makes Skills Bootcamp trainees particularly interesting is where they’ve come from. They’re not cut from one mould. Some have stepped in from operational roles, others from customer service, logistics, retail, or even wider ranging backgrounds. Most are career changers who’ve spent years building transferable skills including problem solving, team leadership and resilience before deciding they want to pivot into IT or project delivery. Others are earlier in their careers but bring strong education backgrounds and a real desire to prove themselves. These are real people making deliberate, often brave decisions to retrain and start fresh, investing 12 intensive weeks learning, practicing, and pushing themselves because they want long-term careers with local organisations willing to give them that opportunity.

All candidates are available for hire with no recruitment fees, offering a low-risk, high-value opportunity for businesses looking to fill early-career IT or project positions.

“This programme offered the opportunity for me to look at recruitment through a more structured and methodical lens, helping me to redesign my own processes & strategies, something I never thought I’d be capable of in previous jobs,” said Lauren-Abi French, a former Project Management Bootcamp participant and now Senior Commercial Partnership and Employment Executive. “Now, I’m helping place new trainees into local businesses in project management and IT, and seeing that same transformation happen again, it’s really rewarding.”

“These candidates are ready,” said Leandra Goncalves, Skills Bootcamp Programme Lead for BIT Training . “They’ve been trained, certified, and coached for the workplace for local businesses, this means less uncertainty in recruitment and more confidence that these individuals can contribute from day one.”
